Invitation to a Roundtable on Elder Financial Protection
Credit unions with assets above $150m
The Elder Justice Initiative (EJI) invites you to share your expertise on using financial tools to protect older customers from exploitation. This interactive session, led by EJI consultant Chantelle Smith, is designed to identify practical ways EJI can support your institution's efforts. This informal discussion is your opportunity to share what’s working, what’s been difficult, and what you need to feel more confident in this critical work.
We'll focus on practical topics, including:
- Real-World Challenges: What makes using a hold or delay complicated? (e.g., customer reactions, liability concerns).
- Improving the Process: What parts of the law could be clearer or easier to act on?
- Helpful Resources: What kind of training or tools would actually help your frontline staff and legal teams?
- Stronger Connections: How can we improve collaboration with Adult Protective Services (APS) and law enforcement?
- Learning from Peers: Would an additional local or national roundtable with other banks and credit unions be valuable?
Attendees should plan to have their cameras on and microphones available. This is not a presentation or a webinar. We want to hear directly from you on the challenges you are facing in dealing elder financial exploitation.
